Logs need not just be kept for firewood; they can be used to create some really wonderful decorative features in your garden too.  Firewood is not only aesthetically pleasing, it's environmentally-friendly, too. Instead of using expensive plastics and metal, opt for wooden ornaments and structures to create a softer, more natural look. Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

Flower beds, borders and runners

These days, everyone likes to grow their own vegetables as well as flowers to enjoy in the summer time. Firewood makes a great medium for setting boundaries between pathways and veg patches, flower beds and borders. Plants with a vigorous, spreading habit can be held in check by surrounding them with a border of split logs sunk into the soil.

You can either use the logs in their larger, chunkier form as supplied or split them again into smaller pieces which also makes them go further. These natural dividers are simple and quick to install and very cheap to replace.

Low level fencing

If you like a rustic look to your outside space, you could consider making low level fencing from firewood. It's something of an art form and construction can be a little time-consuming, but the end result is well-worth the effort. If you use hardwood logs, you can expect your fences to last.

Furniture

Some of the best garden furniture around is made from natural products. If you're handy and enjoy making things, you could put together tables and benches using fallen branches that would otherwise be discarded or used as firewood. The bark of different species of trees can be left intact on your furniture to add interest and texture to your creations.

Log stores

Even if you don't actually have a log-burner or open fireplace, firewood can still be used to make an attractive feature in your garden.  Log stores are cheap to buy and can look really eye-catching when filled with neatly arranged, cut logs.  Stack the logs with the widest diameter at the bottom, tapering to the thinnest at the top and place the cut ends facing outwards to show off the different grains and growth rings for a really stunning effect.

Arrange trailing varieties of pretty pot plants in natural-looking terracotta planters on top for added impact.

Firewood need not be purely functional; it can be decorative too. Consult providers such as Rouse Hill Firewood to learn more about how you can decorate your space with firewood.
